The Startup Innovation Fund (SIF) was launched yesterday during the Dutch Health Week. This new fund replaces the Proof of Concept (POC) fund, with which ROM Utrecht Region has supported around twenty companies in the past three years. The new SIF, valid until 2029, contains EUR 9 million and is intended for innovative startups in the Utrecht region.

In recent years, the former Proof of Concept (POC) fund offered early-stage investments to ambitious entrepreneurs with investment funds of 250,000 euros.

The purpose of the new fund is to give the so-called for entrepreneurs in the early stages, the opportunity to further develop their product and validate it on the market, after which it is possible to implement further financing.

SIF was established in cooperation with the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Opportunities for West program and focuses on innovative solutions in the three ecosystems of Utrecht. Life Sciences & Health, Earth Valley and New Digital Society.
