She is Radhika Merchant, the 29-year-old daughter of Shri Viren Merchant, the billionaire and CEO of pharmaceutical company Encore Healthcare. Radhika is a trained traditional Indian dancer herself, but she is also on the board of Encore. He is Anant Ambani, the 28-year-old son of Mukesh Ambani, India’s richest man, and the head of Reliance Industries, which has an annual turnover of more than 100 billion euros. Anant runs a new energy company.

They have known each other since childhood and both studied at an American university. They officially tied the knot in July, but their “pre-wedding” or pre-wedding party is planned for this weekend.

Indian newspapers have been full of news about the club event for days. And it’s not a small party: no fewer than 21 chefs were hired to prepare three days of food for the 1,000 guests who come to Anant’s parents’ house in Jamnagar, Gujarat.

There will no doubt be some famous guests: American CEOs such as Bill Gates (Microsoft), Mark Zuckerberg (Meta) and Bob Iger (Disney) are reportedly on the guest list. The latter has just announced a merger of Disney’s Indian media arm with Reliance. Ivanka Trump, the daughter of former US President Donald Trump, also reportedly received an invitation.

It is unclear whether Hillary Clinton will attend. The former First Lady already attended Anant’s sister Isha’s wedding in November 2018, as did former Secretary of State John Kerry. Then guests were received not only in Mumbai and Rajasthan but also in Lake Como in Italy. Beyoncé came to perform at the wedding party in exchange for around 5.5 million euros.

Singer Rihanna’s show is planned for next weekend. American illusionist David Blaine will also perform.

Dress code

In addition to the invitation, the guests also received a nine-page dress code. It explains – in great detail – what they should wear to all the events planned for the weekend. Overview:

• On Friday night, the lovebirds and their guests enjoyed a cocktail party themed “an evening at Everland.”

• On Saturday, everyone should put on comfortable shoes, because the program includes a “walk on the wild side” to the groom’s animal reserve (650 hectares in size).

• Guests are asked to dress in “dazzling desi-romantic style” for Saturday night’s party.

• Sunday is the first time for casual chic, ideal for exploring the area during the “Tusker Trail”.

• The last transaction is “Hashtakshar” which means “Signature”. This time the guests should appear in traditional clothes like sherwanis and saris.

Fortunately, guests brought to the venue by charter flights or ferries are allowed to bring three suitcases per couple. On site, they also have access to a laundry service, and hairdressers and make-up artists are also available.

21 chefs do their work. They have to cook more than 2,500 dishes in three days, including Japanese, Mexican and Thai cuisine. This way guests are never served the same food twice during their stay.

According to the insider, guests could choose from 75 options at breakfast and 225 and 275 dishes at lunch and dinner. In addition, 85 meal options are offered for the traditional midnight meal.
