Local nonprofits and charitable organizations mustered volunteers Wednesday to feed and serve people in need ahead of Thanksgiving Day.
In Dallas, hundreds of helpers fed about 500 men and women experiencing homelessness at faith-based nonprofit OurCalling. The Norma’s Cafe-catered Thanksgiving lunch with turkey, fixing and pie fed the area’s unsheltered population. Volunteers also helped gather donated coats, warm pants and blankets in a drive-through collection.

The Statler Hotel and Centurion American are feeding all active first responders, retired veterans, medical professionals and their immediate families with complimentary Thanksgiving dinners sponsored by Operation Forever Free. A traditional Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings will be served in The Statler’s restaurant, Scout, with football playing on the big screen. Reservations are requested, and complimentary valet is provided.
