Along with the series picks up, NBC has released the first images from Suits: LA (pictured) and announced the Grosse Pointe Garden Society. You can view them below.
As reported last month, both pilots were well received and looked good for the order.
Thanks to the recent Netflix success of Suits with a globally recognizable name, the spin-off Suits: LA became a strong proposition from the moment it was announced. It comes from Suits creator Aaron Korsh, features a proven TV star in Stephen Amell, and is said to carry the signature humor of the original series.
Grosse Pointe Garden Society also comes from established creators – Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs of Good Girls fame. The project’s producer, NBC affiliate Universal Television, recently signed new multi-year deals with both as a show of confidence.
Suits: LA is not a reboot or revival of the original USA Network series, but rather a new chapter in the vein of the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and NCIS franchises with new characters in a new location.
The series centers on Ted Black (Amell), a former New York federal prosecutor who has reinvented himself by representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles. His company is at a crisis point and in order to survive he must embrace a role he has despised his entire career.
Ted is surrounded by an amazing cast of characters who test their loyalty to him and to each other as their personal and professional lives become intertwined. This all happens as the events of years ago slowly unravel, forcing Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved.
In addition to Amell, the cast of the pilot includes Bryan Greenberg, Josh McDermitt, Lex Scott Davis and Troy Winbush. Guest stars John Amos, Victoria Justice and Kevin Weisman.
Korsh is producing with David Bartis and Doug Liman for their Hypnotic production company and Gene Klein, who served with him as an executive producer on the original series. The pilot was directed and produced by Victoria Mahoney. UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, is a studio.
Grosse Pointe Garden Society follows four members of a suburban garden club – Birdie (Melissa Fumero), Alice (AnnaSophia Robb), Brett (Ben Rappaport) and Catherine (Aja Naomi King) – all from different walks of life who become embroiled in a murder. and vices as they struggle to succeed in their traditional lives.
The NBC drama pilot comes from Jenna Bans, Bill Krebs and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group. Maggie Kiley directs and produces with Bans via Minnesota Logging Co., Krebs and Casey Kyber. The Grosse Pointe Garden Society pilot also stars Matthew Davis, Alexander Hodge, Nancy Travis and Felix Avitia.
