Holiday lights shine bright at an intersection in Loganton Borough.

LOGANTON –Tucked in the corner of Southern Clinton County, is the small town of Loganton, population of 469.

It is a place where families have stayed for generations, and a destination for those who wish for simpler, quieter times.

In the borough, there are two grocery stores, a harness and shoe shop, a post office, two car garages, a bank, a funeral parlor, an insurance agency, a fuel company, two churches, a volunteer fire company and a school.

In the scope of things, to the outsider, or city-folk, there’s not really a lot to do, or see, on the surface.

But if one takes a minute to peek underneath the roof of the town they’ll find out that it’s a spectacular place full of neighbors being neighborly, longtime friendships, and interesting people with intriguing stories. The kind of place where people watch out for each other and come together.

Because of this, the Sugar Valley Rural Charter School Community Engagement Program, with support from the businesses of Sugar Valley, and the Loganton Borough, is giving back to the community this holiday season by hosting Loganton’s first-ever wintertime festival, appropriately titled, “Winterfest.”

This magical, completey free, event will take place on Sunday, Nov. 27, from 3-6 p.m. in the center of Loganton, and is open to the public. And in this case, when they say free they mean free.

Free admittance, free food, free hot cocoa and free entertainment, for all.

“This festival is simply to bring the community together, to celebrate our community, by providing a fun and magical experience to start the holiday season — without the expectation of repayment for any part of it, or charging for admission,” explained SVRCS Community Liaison, Dawn Jeffries.

There will be live reindeer, and for the first time in Loganton’s history, Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will be there in Santa’s hut, where he will have a mailbox for children to place their letters.

Special musical performances by the Sugar Valley Rural Charter School Band and Chorus, the Sugar Valley Community Band and other local performers will be held throughout the evening. For those who love to sing, community caroling will get everyone into the spirit.

Warm drinks and delicious treats like popcorn, hot cocoa, soup, coffee, cookies, and a smores bar, are some of the complimentary foods that will be available.

Visitors can stroll through town and vote for their favorite property in the house decorating contest. Each “judge” will be given a list of participating homes and choose their favorite. Prizes will be awarded to the winner.

There will be a countdown to official lighting of Loganton Borough’s new holiday streetlights throughout town. The borough recently installed new holiday lights, that add charm and festivity to the community.

Come be a part of Winterfest 2022, and experience the holiday charm the small town of Loganton has to offer, for yourself.
