Have you stopped drawing? Do you think it’s too difficult to tell stories through drawings? Do you think your own story can’t be interesting?
Omar Janaan started drawing when he was a child and has never stopped. In 2009 he became a professional cartoonist and since then he has been accompanying and teaching people like you to draw and tell their own stories. Don’t think that you have to be a great cartoonist or a great storyteller to start making your own comics, in this workshop you will learn and work on the discipline of comics and you will discover yourself drawing cartoons.
He cartoon workshop is an activity aimed at people interested in comics and the creative processes associated with drawing, cartoons, graphic narration, graphic novels, graphic humour, fanzines and graphic editing. You will learn to draw, create characters, get to know the medium and formats, tell stories, discover how important humour is in comics and draw your own comics. And, most importantly, you don’t need to know anything to get started!
Furthermore, since graphic narration does not understand forms, other disciplines and means of expression will be shown and worked with, editing our own comics, making fanzines and discovering the many avant-garde ways in which we can tell those stories and thoughts that we want to share.
This course is aimed at adult audience (from 18 years old). If you have always wanted to make cartoons and comics, this will be your favourite workshop! The course is set up as a cartoon gym where you will have time, space, active listening and care to draw cartoons; the pedagogy of the workshop consists of theoretical blocks, practical blocks and creative games.
Every Tuesday, indefinitely, you will enjoy a meeting in the comics workshop and work will be done through practical and concrete objectives in each session, with the focus also on comic projects of greater dedication and duration, in order to achieve a set of project-objectives throughout each quarter.
You don’t need to bring anything other than your imagination and a desire to enjoy the process!
