Now that the skies have cleared a bit, we’re discussing our national football team, Natio, in what’s called Part 2. After speaking critically to shake things up, a whole storm of criticism arose from our comments after Guyana’s poor match.
The players have begun to pay attention to the commentary reserved for civil society, the free bourgeoisie of which we as an independent and free press belong, instead of their tactics. We will not allow anyone to deprive us of this right, because athletes operating in Europe probably do not yet know that Suriname is a democratic constitutional state.
It is disgusting for this group of pampered and spoiled athletes that they expect us to justify everything that comes their way. Diaspora players have made a statement and in doing so they have confirmed one more thing: men despise Suriname and Surinamese. And it’s all because of SVB’s attitude.
Coach Stanley Menzo and the boys with the so-called double passport think they are doing Suriname and the Surinamese a favor by representing Suriname. According to the men, Surinamese should be satisfied and grateful and go through the dust just by registering and arriving in Suriname. This may be the attitude of the SVB board and a few so-called fan groups on social media, but such an attitude should not be expected from a free, independent press.
The presence of players in major tournaments is not enough for us because people in the Caribbean and Central and South America don’t really care about that. You might have a somewhat well-known name – and we at Natio don’t have much of that because it’s about B-grade players who don’t have a chance for the Dutch team – but that won’t bring Moesje to Paris just yet. Matches cannot be won by domestic names, but by players who play in the national teams convincingly and with love, with their head and heart. And that’s exactly what we think has been missing.
The number of deeds we have written about SVB to start the “diaspora project” is countless. In the civil society, this media has been among the biggest supporters, firstly including players with foreign passports and secondly, the gates of the Nation are closed to the so-called amateur boys of Suriname. After a process under three coaches and several international matches, we have always evaluated and stand with both feet on the ground.
We now believe that the core of the Nation should consist of players who play in the local league. Now it is more responsible to do so because of the success of coach Roberto Godeken and Robinhood’s young squad, firstly and secondly because of the start of the professional competition in Suriname, all matches of which the Followers have completed. to which we belong, that the level has already risen in the first season.
We previously criticized the worthless award given by the federation to national champion Robinhood. Such prize must be genuine and, where possible, its intellectual property rights must also be protected by copyright.
There has been a furious response from some so-called fan groups. It is striking that these groups react very emotionally because they believe in the wonder of professional football players. It is believed that the status of a professional football player works wonders.
Secondly, it is striking that people know very little about the technical aspects of football. They are pure irrational followers who have not played football themselves and have not seen the inside of Surinamese stadiums. It is also striking that many who live and work in Holland blindly support the sons of their country. Very derogatory comments are made about Surinamese teams, national coaches, players and SML. The lion’s share of people who answer clearly also despise anything buzzy. And that is something Surinamese should not tolerate. These fans from fan groups are Orange fans who apparently want Orange B and they think they found the Nation for it. Since the reactions of fan groups are purely emotionally charged and completely pointless, we don’t take them seriously. Their statements are worthless to us.
Stupid statements from Dutch footballers defending their coach are not valuable to us either. The alleged statement by the players is ridiculous and it is unbelievable that such a statement comes from athletes who come from ultimately free societies where players are profiled in the press and on TV talk shows. Sometimes this doesn’t even happen because of the sports performance, but simply because of the players’ clothes and hairstyles. It is stupid and ridiculous that athletes born and raised in these free societies expect Surinamese and Surinamese societies to accept all the trash they do on the sports field.
What we noted after the fortuitous match win against Guyana was confirmed during the loss to Guadeloupe; International players play without emotion. For us, it’s not about winning or losing, it’s more about how you win or lose. They are in Natio because the Oranje have become unattainable. There are still a few players in the English second division who do not accept Menzo’s invitations as they wait for a miracle to be called up by the Dutch team. These types of guys want to play in Suriname when they are close to 30 years old, but we don’t want them.
Everything stated above is our opinion and belief, and we have the right to it as well. Injured people can go to court, that’s how it works in Suriname. Those who are not happy can boycott themselves, because an attempt to boycott an opinionated newspaper is worthless and ineffective. Let the boys who came up with the statement be honest and learn to respect Surinamese and Surinamese. If people can’t afford it, and we notice because of this statement and statement, we say one thing: then there is no place for you in the Nation.
