How would it be that the afternoon ovation was taken away by the monosages. The monosabies, the chopping horse and, if you hurry me, also the picador, because of the cost he hit. It happened in the sixth and the point is to know how that steer, as weak or weaker than the rest, was able to take down such a battleship.
The fact is that equino and varilarguero went to the ground and that was the most fun of the afternoon. It was just over two hours in which nothing happened. Nothing worth remembering. Six bulls from different farms paraded through the pigsty door – most of them unknown even to the fans themselves -, correctly presented, but without a minimum of brave breed.
A livestock balance inappropriate for the Plaza de Madrid, which surely came out very cheap for the company. The first, with the iron of José González, and the fifth, of Baltasar Ibán, were saved from the burning by being generous. One because he had nobility and good background, although he was gentle on the horse and barely transmitted on the crutch; and the other because, at least, he moved with a certain greed.
The bullfighters were not better. And one wonders why, exactly, they came to Madrid. Villita, always well composed, left some details loose in the accessory bullfighting, but, in the fundamental one, he put in a lot of effort; Jesús Moreno, as willful as he was fragile, walked vulgarly and never got along with his lot; and Diego Bastos gave passes and didn’t say anything.
As if that were not enough, the three of them killed badly. Very badly. Moreno, at least, had the consideration to ask for forgiveness when he got out of hand; something that his teammates, authors of a couple of treacherous setbacks, did not do.
Normally, as soon as the sixth one was fired, people stampeded away, bored to death. Only the monowise, proud and triumphant, went home happy. Lucky them (and the company…).
Different livestock farms / Villita, Moreno, Bastos
Steers of Jose Gonzalez (1º), Countess of Sobral (2º), Warrior and Carpenter (3º), Thursdays (4º), Baltasar Ibán (5th) and Angel Luis Peña (6th), correctly presented, but tame, soft and outcast. Those with the best game, the noble 1st, with quality, but fair transmission, and the 5th, which moved.
Bottle it up: half rear lunge, detached and crossed _notice_ (greetings); back blow and crossed (silence).
Jesus Moreno: short low lunge (silence); slightly forward and opposite thrust, six madness _warning_, another madness and the bull is thrown (silence).
Diego Bastos: downturn (silence); half a very deep thrust that spits, three jabs and another very deep thrust (silence).
Las Ventas bullring. Second of the Autumn Fair. Just over half a square (13,568 spectators, according to the company).
